Situational Constraints
Even though the learning goals and objectives of using the case based method are ideal, the method is not recommended for all learning situations. Some reasons Freeman Herreid (1994) has for using this approach may not be ideal are when:
- a large amount of new information needs to be conveyed
- when there is a large number of participants (60+), because it then becomes difficult to facilitate
- there is not sufficient time available to devote to the case
